back in business after another long break..
as i noted in my previous post, i was going to attend a workshop with Peter Kemp, which happened in Hemnesberget (northern Norway) in the beginning of june. i have to say that i was mightily pleased with the event, which brought me together with lots of wonderful people and gave me some valuable experience, both as a photographer, a model and a lecturer. oh yes, i was sharing my knowledge with other people! and that was really fun, so i am definitely doing something similar in the future again. my biggest gratitude to my dear friend Peter for including me in this workshop, and of course to Tove Solbakk and Bjørn Leirvik, who did a fantastic job in organizing the whole thing. i probably don't need to mention that northern norway is simply breathtaking and the locals are the most open, hospitable and friendly people in the world. i am so coming back there!
after that i travelled back to france, initially for two weeks but due to circumstances (and my overall insanity) i stayed there one week extra, returning home only several days ago.
this time my visit was less filled culturally but i did get to the louvre, an enourmously huge and devouring place where one could easily spend a week (we covered half of it in a day and in the end it was rather painful, both for my eyes and my brain). as it often happens, the well-known works like Mona Lisa or Venus were quite disappointing, but the real gem turned out to be my most beloved Memling - i drooled over his paintings quite a bit.
another place that left an indelible impression was the (in)famous parisian catacombs. we roamed in the official part (that is nicely organized and not particularly dangerous but at the same time is filled with silly tourists, which is somewhat annoying) and i completely fell in love with the place. i mean, how can one not adore the narrow dark corridors, the stale damp smell and water dripping from the ceiling, carefully piled bones and skulls, and a totally surreal atmosphere that fills the place? now i'm dreaming and hoping, at the risk of getting lost and being found dead years later, to explore the unofficial part of the catacombs, and obviously have a shoot or two inside there!
on the artistic front i met with all my friends and also with some new people, talked to the owner of the gallery Le Cabinet des Curieux and let's just say that some exciting things might be happening in the nearest future, but i won't reveal more until i know for sure. special thanks to my sweet girl Delphyne, Hans VR who did two trips from Gent just to keep me company, Nanoo G. (it was such a great pleasure to finally meet with her) and of course my other half who kindly harboured and entertained me during my stay - without him the whole venture wouldn't be possible.
except for roaming, snapping and relaxing, i had a couple of serious shoots, and the picture from the first one can be found in my gallery. i hope to start working on the other one in the days to come, and i also did some modelling, so i will post the results here as soon as i have them.
so, i guess that was all the news for tonight.
stay tuned and enjoy the summer :)
